The most obvious factors to take into consideration regarding the children’s bedroom are that they are growing, exploring, active, curious and evolving into their true potential. How can you support them in creating a space, which will reflect all their needs?
Children usually spend one third of their formative life in their bedroom, it is vital that their space reflects their personality and desire to explore and grow. Working with the appropriate colors for those rooms is especially important. The colors of Green and Blue décor have a relaxing effect; shades of pale yellow can stimulate their minds.
It is important to keep the central center of the room free for them to use as they please. Whether for their games, their projects or simply to play with their friends or siblings, it needs to be free for the circulation of chi (energy). Mobiles are excellent in children’s rooms they help to circulate the chi (energy) within the space.
The position of their bed is very important in relation to the door (as with adults) also their beds should have a stable headboard and be made of wood, which is much more stabilizing than metal. Also, bunk beds can cause problems in causing pressure on the child that is sleeping on the top bunk. There are cures that one can do to make the situation better. However, it is important to let them experiment where they feel most comfortable when sleeping within their room.
If there are two children sharing a room it is important to create some form of screening to allow them to personalize and individualize their sector. Children like adults, do need their own space.
Sleeping under beams, skylights and shelves laden up with books are not good. The pressure from above can give them headaches and disturb their rest.
